A Home Energy Audit brings a “House-as-a-System” perspective to how the home performs, its energy consumption and overall health and safety, and is the first step in making the home more sustainable.  A Home Energy Audit includes diagnostics testing of the home’s air leakage, a review of the mechanical / HVAC system, electricity use analysis and a written report outlining and ranking cost effective energy efficient improvements.

An Energy Audit can help the homeowner assess how much energy their home uses and evaluate what measures they can take to improve efficiency.  LES uses a variety of techniques and equipment in the assessment.  Comprehensive audits include use of the following pieces of equipment:

• blower door - measures the extent of leaks in the building envelope
• infrared camera - reveals hard-to-detect areas of air infiltration and missing insulation
• duct blaster – detects leakage in HVAC ductwork that contributes to heating inefficiencies

As an additional service, LES can provide second homeowners with a customized Shut-down Procedure to be implemented by the homeowner or property manager when the homeowner is away for long periods of time.
